• Here are really funny and witty concepts: The first one is taken from Ouï Fm ads that try to blend very famous Album covers into real life. The second one consists in mixing and matching Album covers. The result is impressive and really interesting!

Possible Xbloggtation: Just do the same with covers of books or other stuffs!

  • I was quite interested in the following Greenpeace campaign:

I was wondering whether it was possible to integrate it in a lesson. The idea would be to make the pupils imagine their own stencils and catchphrases. We could keep Greenpeace's message or use their tool only but for a different purpose. Indeed the stencils would not necessarily represent endangered species but could illustrate human beings living in pollution for example. Any ideas?

  • You probably know the famous advert by Google that was broadcast during last year Superbowl. It is really simple  but very cute and moving.

Possible Xbloggtation: Thanks to the link explaining how to recreate the same kind of story, students can recreate a story inspired by a passage from a text you are studying in class for example. They could retell the story with a certain point of view.

  • You probably know the new fad which is planking. Some other strange fads developped rapidly in response to planking and thanks to/because of the net. Could be interesting to talk about these curious sociological behaviour and to know the students' opinions about those useless fads.

    Here are some examples of:

    Planking:

New fads: Planking, batmanning and others - consequence of the Net?

"Planking" (or the "Lying Down Game") is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The term planking refers to mimicking a wooden plank. Rigidity of the body must be maintained to constitute good planking. (From Wikipedia)

    Owling:

New fads: Planking, batmanning and others - consequence of the Net?

Owling is a variation on planking in which a person squats "like an owl". It was first documented on 11 July 2011 in a post on the social news website.(From Wikipedia)

    Horsemaning:

New fads: Planking, batmanning and others - consequence of the Net?

Horsemanning involves posing two people so that they appear to be a single body with a detached head and is a revival of a photography fad popular in the 1920s. It is thought that the name comes from the Headless Horseman in Washington Irving's short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.(From Wikipedia)

    Stocking:

New fads: Planking, batmanning and others - consequence of the Net?

The premise behind the new photo fad is simple: find a stock photo from image services like istockphoto and Getty Images, and recreate it. Post the pictures side by side, and voila.

    Batmanning:

Instead of simply lying face down in odd places, those taking part in the new version — called "Batmanning" — dangle precariously by their feet.

    Razor Bombing:

New fads: Planking, batmanning and others - consequence of the Net?

New fads: Planking, batmanning and others - consequence of the Net?

And here is a really funny reaction to most of those ridiculous fads! Just Enjoy and don't hesitate to react ^^

  • The following video could be used as a warm-up. The idea is that we still continue to discover new species (in the oceans for example)

    Possible Xbloggtation:

Could be interesting to present a fictive newly discovered species to the class. Talk about the qualities or defects, description using adjectives, what it eats, its origins, etc.

Could also be interesting to imagine the kids talk about animals that have disappeared (or to imagine they've just disappeared) and explain why they don't exist anymore.

  • The invention of the smartphone has changed our way of life. Actually in few years many new inventions have affected the way we behave in the street, at home or even in society. The following sign is a representation of the consequences of mobile Facebook in the streeet.

Possible Xbloggtation: What about imagining other signs inspired of influencing new technologies?
